Yerex House
The Yerex House, an imposing 2 1/2-storey brick farmhouse built in 1916, is a municipally designated site. The house is situated on a knoll within a grassed and partially treed yard located off a rural road amidst rolling hills and large open fields in the Franklin area northwest of Neepawa. The house has been the object of a rehabilitation project, which included the creation of a new verandah and the addition of a new front door. The designation applies to the house and the land on which it sits.
The Yerex House, a largely intact Edwardian-style dwelling, is one of the few large farmhouses remaining in the Neepawa area that recall the optimism and prosperity of the farming community in southwestern Manitoba in the early 1900s. Built despite the domestic exigencies associated with the First World War, the house is noted for its fine exterior design, brick construction, unusual attached garage and richly crafted interior.
Maison Yerex
Imposante maison de ferme de deux étages et demi construite en briques en 1916, la maison Yerex est un site municipal du patrimoine. Sise sur une butte, sur un terrain gazonné et partiellement boisé le long d’une route rurale, elle est entourée de collines ondulées et de vastes champs dans la région de Franklin, au nord-ouest de Neepawa. Elle a fait l’objet de travaux de remise en état qui ont notamment inclus la construction d’une nouvelle véranda et l’ajout d’une nouvelle porte avant. La qualification de site municipal du patrimoine s’applique à la maison et au terrain qu’elle occupe.
Demeure de style édouardien essentiellement intacte, la maison Yerex est l’une des quelques dernières grandes maisons de ferme existant encore dans la région de Neepawa et évoquant l’optimisme et la prospérité de la collectivité agricole du sud-ouest du Manitoba au début des années 1900. Construite malgré les restrictions associées à la Première Guerre mondiale, la maison se caractérise par un extérieur de grande qualité, une construction en brique, un garage attenant inhabituel et un intérieur soigneusement exécuté.
