William Donald Albright
Albright was born at South Cayuga, Ontario. Having studied at the Ontario Agricultural College he entered the field of farm journalism and, in 1908, became editor of the Farmers¿ Advocate. In 1913 he moved west and settled at Beaverlodge, Alberta. Here, on his farm, the Beaverlodge Experimental Station was established in 1917. As superintendent of that station (1919-45), Albright made significant contributions to western agriculture which were publicly recognized in 1946 when the University of Alberta awarded him a Doctor of Laws, honoris causa.

Né à South Cayuga (Ontario), Albright étudia à l¿Ontario Agricultural College. Journaliste spécialisé en questions agricoles, il devint en 1908 rédacteur-en-chef du Farmers¿Advocate et s¿installa à Beaverlodge (Alberta) en 1913. On créa sur sa ferme, en 1917, une station d¿expérimentation qu¿il dirigea de 1919 à 1945. Ses travaux firent beaucoup pour le progrès de l¿agriculture dans l¿Ouest. L¿Université de l¿Alberta lui décerna en 1946 un doctorat honoris causa en droit, reconnaissant ainsi publiquement la valeur de ses travaux.
