T and B Apartment Block
The T & B Apartment Block is a two-storey, combination apartment-commercial building located on the main street of one of Nanaimo’s oldest neighbourhoods. The historic place is confined to the building footprint.
Built in 1920, the T & B Apartment Block is a very good example of an early apartment-type commercial building. The square projecting bays and small gable roof over the central window show the influence of the Swiss Chalet style that was popular at the time. The building is substantially intact.
The T & B Apartment Block, an integral part of the Fitzwilliam Street corridor, is part of a grouping of historic buildings located in this neighbourhood.
Immeuble d’appartements T and B
L’immeuble d’appartements T & B est un bâtiment mixte d’appartements et de commerces de deux étages situé sur la rue principale de l’un des plus anciens quartiers de Nanaimo. Le lieu patrimonial se limite à l’empreinte au sol du bâtiment.
Construit en 1920, l’immeuble d’appartements T & B est un très bon exemple des premiers bâtiments commerciaux à appartements. Les oriels carrés en saillie et le petit toit à pignon au-dessus de la fenêtre centrale témoignent de l’influence du style chalet suisse, alors populaire. Le bâtiment est en grande partie intact.
L’immeuble d’appartements T & B, partie intégrante du corridor de la rue Fitzwilliam, fait partie d’un ensemble de bâtiments historiques situés dans ce quartier.
