St. John’s Minster

St. John’s Minster was the first place of worship built by the Barr colonists, who emigrated from England and settled more than 1000 homesteads in this district in 1903-04. Their chaplain and leader was Rev. G. E. Lloyd for whom the settlers named this town Lloydminster. Under his guidance one of the first tasks of the colony was to erect a log church. Within the year the church was completed and was dedicated July 10, 1904.

St. John’s Minster
