St. John the Baptist Mission
The mission of St. John the Baptist founded on September 10, 1846, was the first permanent Roman Catholic mission in Saskatchewan. In 1860-61, a convent dispensary for the sick, and a school were established. Destroyed by fire in 1867, the Mission and convent was rebuilt. Flooding forced the abandonment of the site in 1905. The Grey Nuns resumed their work in 1917, and despite fires in 1920 and 1925, remained to assume direction in April 1928, of the Government hospital which had been constructed the previous year.
Mission Saint-Jean-Baptiste
