St. Andrews Anglican Church War Memorial
1914-18 War took its toll at Cowichan Station at the start of the war. There had been a tremendous serge of patriotic fervour. The almost tranquil east window depicting the moment after crucifixion, was designed and made in London, as memorial to the thirteen men who gave their lives in that conflict. As a thank offering for peace, a new bell was donated and the bell tower constructed. Meanwhile Captain A. Lane presented the base and stem of the lectern Rescued from the shelled ruins of Ypres Cathedral in Belgium, and the Rector, Rev. F.L. Stephenson, who had also gone to the war, the fragments of stained glass from a bombed church in Rheims, France, which are incorporated in the windows to the north and south side of the nave. This memorial is dedicated to Doris H.M. Oldfield.

La guerre de 1914-1918 a imposé dès le début son tribut à Cowichan Station, qui avait été animée d’un élan exceptionnel de ferveur patriotique. Le vitrail dépeint le moment qui a suivi la crucifixion; il a été dessiné et réalisé à Londres, à la mémoire des 13 hommes qui ont sacrifié leur vie au cours de ce conflit. En guise de remerciement et d’offrande à la paix, une nouvelle cloche a été donnée et un clocher a été construit. Entre-temps, le capitaine A. Lane avait remis à la paroisse la base et le pied d’un lutrin récupéré dans les ruines de la cathédrale d’Ypres, en Belgique, frappée par des obus, et le recteur, le rév. F.L. Stephenson, qui avait également fait la guerre, avait offert des fragments de vitraux provenant d’une église bombardée à Reims, en France, qui ont été incorporés aux vitraux des côtés nord et sud de la nef. Ce mémorial est dédié à Doris H.M. Oldfield.
