Soldiers' Memorial Hospital Cenotaph
The city of Orillia, at the end of the First World War, decided to create a cenotaph that was not only practical, but also would show thanks and respect to the men who gave their lives. The decision was made to build a much needed hospital, and thus, Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital was erected in 1922.
A stone cenotaph and walkway mark the entrance to the hospital. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34 helped to make this unique tribute a reality, and added the granite cenotaph in 1967.
