Smyth House – Riviere-Verte
The Smyth House is a one-and-a-half storey vernacular residence inspired by the Queen Anne Revival style, located on the corner of Principale Street and Davis Road in Rivière-Verte. It was built in 1898.
Smyth House is designated a Local Historic Place for its association with the former owners.
The house was built in 1898 by the Smyth family, who came from Ireland and played a very important role in the commercial development of the Rivière-Verte region. Founding the general store, now called Épicerie R. H. Clavette, as well as several lumber mills, which have since disappeared, and an important farm in the community, the Smyth family contributed to some of the Village of Rivière-Verte’s finest days. J. Henry Smyth and James Patrick A. Smyth were the last original owners of the family home in 1981.

La maison Smyth est une résidence d’un étage et demi d’architecture vernaculaire d’inspiration néo-Queen Anne située sur la rue Principale à Rivière-Verte, à l’intersection du chemin Davis. Elle fut construite en 1898.
La maison Smyth a été désignée lieu patrimonial local pour son association avec ses anciens propriétaires.
La maison Smyth fut construite en 1898 par la famille Smyth. La famille Smyth est venue d’Irlande et ses membres ont été des acteurs très importants dans le développement commercial dans la région de Rivière-Verte. Notamment le magasin général, maintenant sous le nom d’épicerie R. H. Clavette, mais aussi plusieurs moulins de bois qui sont maintenant disparus ainsi qu’une ferme importante pour la communauté, ont peut dire que la famille Smyth a participé à donner au village de Rivière-Verte ses plus beaux jours. J. Henry Smyth et James Patrick A. Smyth étaient les derniers propriétaires originaux de la maison familiale en 1981.
