Roseisle Cenotaph

The monument in Roseisle, in the Rural Municipality of Dufferin, commemorates soldiers from the local area who served in the First World War, Second World War, and Korean War. Those killed during the First World War are marked with stars.

A Rededication Ceremony was held Sunday October 6 2019 to honour those listed on the Roseisle War Memorial in Roseisle, Manitoba, monument, as well as the community members involved in getting the cenotaph brought to the town from Pembina. RM of Dufferin Reeve George Gray and recently re-elected Midland MLA Blaine Pedersen attended the rededication. The Roseisle War Memorial Committee member had repairs done to the memorial in 2019 which were donated by Veterans Affairs Canada, the Legion and also the RM of Dufferin. The cenotaph was in need of repairs after years of sun, wind, rain, and snow, had stripped some of the paint from the memorial.

The middle crest, which is over 100 years old, was originally erected in the Roseisle Presbyterian Church / Roseisle United Church in NE20-6-7W in the Rural Municipality of Dufferin. Closed in January 1971, the former church bulding was moved to the Pembina Thresherman’s Museum in 1978. The crests were moved to the Pembina War Memorial, then the Roseisle War Memorial Committee moved it to Roseisle.
