Port Perry Cenotaph

Dedicated in 2004, this modern memorial features the names of those from Scugog Township who gave their lives in the two World Wars. Port Perry has a proud tradition of showing support for the troops, one high school each year has each of its history students choose a name off this cenotaph and research the soldier and his story.

As so often happens with many small town memorials, the list of names for the Great War is significantly longer than that of the Second World War, noting the great sacrifice that was made at the time. (From Tim Laye’s Blog, Ontario War Memorials)
