Peter Pond’s Post
In 1781 Peter Pond wintered at Lac La Ronge beside another free trader, Jean Etienne Waden. He abandoned the post in March, 1782 following the murder of Waden for which he was allegedly responsible. Pond pioneered the exploration of and fur trade in the Athabaska district, eventually withdrawing from the North-West in 1788.

En 1781, Peter Pond a hiverné à Lac La Ronge, à côté d’un autre traiteur indépendant, Jean Étienne Waden. Il a abandonné le poste en mars 1782, à la suite du meurtre de Waden, dont il aurait été responsable. Pond a été un pionnier de l’exploration et de la traite des fourrures dans la région d’Athabasca, avant de se retirer du Nord-Ouest en 1788.
