Northgate Junior Red Cross Society
On October 7, 1915, Miss Emily Holmes-Orr organized the Northgate Junior Branch of the Canadian Red Cross Society, with a membership of eleven children. The first Junior Branch in the world to receive a Red Cross charter, its initial attention was directed to the needs of war casualties. The Branch ceased to exist when the Northgate School was closed in 1964.
Société de la Croix-Rouge Junior de Northgate
Le 7 octobre 1915, Mlle Emily Holmes-Orr a organisé la section junior de Northgate de la Société canadienne de la Croix-Rouge, avec un effectif de onze enfants. Première section junior au monde à recevoir une charte de la Croix-Rouge, elle a d’abord porté son attention sur les besoins des victimes de guerre. La section a cessé d’exister lorsque l’école de Northgate a fermé ses portes, en 1964.
