Noonday Gun

This memorial, a nine-pound naval cannon, was given to the British army garrison stationed in Ottawa in 1854 by the British military. It was purchased by the Canadian government in 1869 and, for many years, fired as the “Noonday Gun”.

The Canadian War Museum currently has the cannon on loan to Bytown Gunners Firepower Museum (30th Field Regiment) at 307 De Niverville Private.
