Lac Baker Grotto
The Lac Baker Grotto is located on the side of the mountain to the west of Saint-Thomas-d’Aquin Church at the top of the large stairway above Route 120. The statue of the Blessed Virgin is erected inside a rock and is decorated with an illuminated cross.
The Lac Baker grotto is designated a Local Historic Place because of its symbolic importance in the community and its location. The grotto was erected in 1945 by Father Gaston Champagne and is an integral part of the village of Lac Baker. The long steps leading up the hillside are especially characteristic of Lac Baker. It represents the attachment of the parishioners to the Blessed Virgin and offers a wonderful view of the natural beauty of Lac Baker. A miniature replica of the church is located midway up the stairs. It is a place of religious significance visited by village residents.
Grotte du Lac Baker
La grotte du Lac Baker est située sur le flanc de la montagne à l’ouest de l’église Saint-Thomas-d’Aquin en haut d’un grand escalier au-dessus de la route 120. La statue de la Sainte-Vierge est érigée à l’intérieur d’un rocher et est ornée d’un calvaire lumineux.
La grotte du Lac Baker a été désignée lieu patrimonial local pour son importance symbolique dans la communauté et pour son emplacement. La grotte fut érigée en 1945 par le père Gaston Champagne. Cette grotte fait partie intégrante du village de Lac Baker. Ses longues marches qui montent le flanc de la colline sont particulièrement caractéristiques du Lac Baker. Elle représente l’attachement des paroissiens à la Sainte Vierge en plus d’offrir un point de vue splendide sur les beautés naturelles uniques au Lac Baker. Une réplique de l’église en miniature se trouve à mi-chemin lorsqu’on monte les marches. C’est un lieu de culte couru par les résidents du village.
