Joseph-Armand Bombardier

Entrepreneur and industrialist, Joseph-Armand Bombardier invented the snowmobile which ended winter isolation in rural areas of Canada and around the world. This remarkable visionary fulfilled his dream of creating and marketing a vehicle capable of travelling on snow. Both the snowmobile and the smaller Ski-doo, which he patented in 1937 and 1960 respectively, were conceived and manufactured here in Valcourt where Bombardier was born. After his death, the business he founded became a world leader in the transportation industry.

Ce visionnaire remarquable réalisa son rêve de construire et de commercialiser un véhicule pouvant se déplacer sur la neige. L’autoneige et la motoneige, pour lesquelles Bombardier obtint des brevets en 1937 et en 1960, furent conçues et fabriquées ici, à Valcourt, son village natal. Après sa mort, son entreprise devint un leader mondial de l’industrie des transports.
