Hon. Walter Scott, 1867 – 1938

Walter Scott, a prominent journalist and politician, was raised in rural Ontario. In 1885 he moved West and, as a member of Parliament (1900 – 1905), played a leading role in achieving provincial status for Saskatchewan. Appointed its first Premier in 1905, Scott, through his insight and leadership, ably directed the province through its crucial first decade, ill health forced his retirement from public life in 1916.

L’Hon. Walter Scott, 1867 – 1938

Walter Scott, journaliste et homme politique éminent, a grandi dans l’Ontario rural. En 1885, il est parti vers l’Ouest et, en tant que député au Parlement (1900 – 1905), a joué un rôle de premier plan pour l’obtention du statut de province pour la Saskatchewan. Nommé premier premier ministre de la province en 1905, Scott, par sa perspicacité et son leadership, a dirigé avec talent la province durant sa première décennie cruciale. La maladie l’a contraint à se retirer de la vie publique en 1916.
