Hon. W. J. Patterson, 1886 – 1976

As the premier of Saskatchewan from 1935 to 1942, William John Patterson had to cope with a depression, then war; but that was only one aspect of his public career. Earlier he held various portfolios in Premier Gardiner’s cabinet and was a long time member of the Legislature from his first election in 1921 to his retirement in 1949. He further served his province as Lieutenant Governor from 1951 – 1958. Born in Grenfell, he was the first native-born Saskatchewan Premier and Lieutenant Governor.

L’Hon. W. J. Patterson, 1886 – 1976
