Hon. James T.M. Anderson

Premier of Saskatchewan from 1929 until 1934, the Honourable James Thomas Milton Anderson led the administration during some of the most trying years ever faced by the province. Anderson had come West in 1908 as a teacher and soon gained a wide reputation for his work as a school inspector and director of education of new Canadians. Named leader of the provincial Conservative Party in 1924, he was elected to the Assembly the following year and in 1929 became leader of the government. Defeated in 1934, he resigned as leader of his party in 1939.

L’Hon. James T.M. Anderson

Premier ministre de la Saskatchewan de 1929 à 1934, l’honorable James Thomas Milton Anderson a dirigé l’administration pendant certaines des années les plus éprouvantes que la province ait connues. Anderson était arrivé dans l’Ouest en 1908 comme enseignant et s’est rapidement fait une grande réputation pour son travail d’inspecteur scolaire et de directeur de l’éducation des nouveaux Canadiens. Nommé chef du Parti conservateur provincial en 1924, il a été élu à l’Assemblée l’année suivante et, en 1929, est devenu chef du gouvernement. Défait en 1934, il a démissionné de la direction de son parti en 1939.
