Henry Wise Wood

A major prairie farm leader, Wood was born in Missouri and emigrated to the Carstairs district of Alberta in 1905. He was president of the United Farmers of Alberta, 1916-1931, a founder of the prairie wheat pools, and first chairman of the Alberta Wheat Pool, 1923 – 1937. An advocate of economic group government, he influenced the philosophy of agrarian politics and contributed to the electoral success of the United Farmers of Alberta which formed the provincial government of Alberta from 1921 to 1935. He died at Calgary.

Henry Wise Wood

Henry Wise Wood, qui devait devenir un chef de file dans les Praries, naquit an Missouri et s’etablit dans le district de Carstairs (Alberta) en 1905. L’un des fondateurs des pools de blé des Praries, it fut également président de la United Farmers of Alberta (1916 à 1931) et le premier président de l’Alberta Wheat Pool (1923 á 1937). Partisan de la représentation de groupements économiques au sein du government, il influença les politiques agraires et contributa au succès électoral de la United Farmers of Alberta qui dirigea l’Alberta de 1921 à 1935. Il mourut à Calgary.
