Guido Nincheri
Through the quality, diversity, and extent of his work, Nincheri had a major impact on ecclesiastical decoration in the first half of the 20th century, notably mastering buon fresco, a technique of painting on fresh plaster that was rarely used in North America. After his detention as part of the internment of Italian Canadians during the Second World War, he moved to the United States, where he continued his work, though he retained his Montréal studio. His exceptional legacy, including many designs for church interiors and stained glass windows, is a remarkable contribution to the Italian tradition in religious art in Canada.
Guido Nincheri
