Golden Sikhs

The first Sikhs arrived in Golden in 1902 to work in the mill of the Columbia River Lumber Company. Their Gurdwara (temple), one of the earliest in BC, became a focus of cultural identity and religious ceremony for the Sikh community. Their significant contributions to the settlement and development of the region remain a legacy.

Les premiers Sikhs sont arrivés à Golden en 1902 pour travailler à la scierie de la Columbia River Lumber Company. Leur gurdwara (temple), l’un des premiers en Colombie-Britannique, est devenu un lieu central d’identité culturelle et de cérémonies religieuses pour la communauté sikhe. Leur contribution importante à la colonisation et au développement de la région demeure un héritage.
