Framed poem – Thunder Bay

This poem is dedicated by Herman Bryan, M.D. to those who lost their lives at war.

Inscription

“We regret to inform you”
Abraham offered all he had to give,
Christ dies that faith in God should never fail.
Our sons throughout the world have ceased to live
That Liberty and Justice prevail.
But Isaac on the altar was not slain.
God’s son returned unto his Father’s Home.
But never shall we see our sons again.
Alone throughout life’s journey we mush roam,
To our dear sons who sacrificed each life
On land, in air or on the tempestuous sea,
To all these heroes of this bloody strife
We dedicate our lives afresh to thee.
We pray, oh Lord, that hope and love for Thee
May no be dimmed by earthly loss or grief
But grant that faith and prayer may ever be
The ties that hold us firm in our belief
That sometime we shall join them without fear.
Then all our prayers and hopes will answered be.
When we have spent our days in service here
They’ll greet us in They Vast Eternity.
To the Prisoners of War and their Fellows in
Arms who have made the supreme sacrifice.
Port Arthur,
March 20th 1945 Herman Bryan, M.D.
