Fort Walsh – Fort Qu’Appelle Trail

This trail, familiar to generations of Indians, became during the mid-19th century an important fur and provision route between the Cypress Hills and Fort Qu’Appelle, and beyond to Fort Ellice and the Red River. After 1875 it was used by North West Mounted Police patrols from Fort Walsh, and until the railways were constructed it was a main trail for ranchers and homesteaders of southwestern Saskatchewan well into the twentieth century.

Piste Fort Walsh – Fort Qu’Appelle
