Fort à la Corne

Fort St. Louis, 1753-57, was built by Chevalier de la Corne below the forks of the river. This first post in Saskatchewan, where the first grain was grown, marked the apex of French penetration of the West. It was the site of several later posts, of Fort A La Corne of the H.B.C., 1846–1932, and of the Nepawewin Mission founded by Rev. Henry Budd, 1851.
