Emmanuel College

Emmanuel College was founded in 1879 as a theological college of the Church of England in Canada by the Right Reverend John Mc Lean, Lord Bishop of Saskatchewan. The main building, erected South of St. Mary’s Church, was opened by Lieutenant-Governor David Laird in 1880. A Collegiate school for boys was added in 1881. Incorporation as the University of Saskatchewan was obtained in 1883, but was relinquished in 1907 in favour of affiliation with the Provincial University. The work of the College was then transferred to Saskatoon.

Emmanuel College

Le collège Emmanuel a été fondé en 1879 comme collège théologique de l’Église d’Angleterre au Canada par le très révérend John McLean, évêque de la Saskatchewan. Le bâtiment principal, érigé au sud de l’église St. Mary, a été inauguré par le lieutenant-gouverneur David Laird en 1880. Une école collégiale pour garçons y a été ajoutée en 1881. La constitution en Université de la Saskatchewan a été obtenue en 1883, mais a été abandonnée en 1907 au profit de l’affiliation à l’université provinciale. Les activités du collège ont alors été transférées à Saskatoon.
