Dr. R.W.W. Carrall, 1839-79
Of Ontario Loyalist stock, Carrall settled at Williams Creek in 1867, practising medicine and encouraging the depressed mining industry. He became the cariboo representative on the colonial Legislative council in 1868. On the 1870 Confederation delegation to Ottawa, he was the Canadian Government’s great ally. When British Columbia joined Canada in 1871, he was appointed one of the new province’s new senators.

Issu d’une famille loyaliste de l’Ontario, Carrall s’est établi au ruisseau Williams en 1867, où il a pratiqué la médecine et encouragé l’industrie minière en difficulté. Il est devenu le représentant du Cariboo au Conseil législatif colonial en 1868. Membre de la délégation de 1870 envoyée à Ottawa au sujet de la Confédération, il a été un grand allié du gouvernement canadien. Lorsque la Colombie-Britannique s’est jointe au Canada en 1871, il a été nommé l’un des sénateurs de la nouvelle province.
