Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada Armoury

This Gothic Revival armoury is home to soldiers of the Black Watch, Canada’s oldest Highland regiment. In 1862, some of the city’s most influential Scottish residents created this regiment that drew recruits from all parts of Montréal and beyond. Their successors were the driving force behind the construction of this building in 1905–1906. A testament to the key role that armouries played in Canada—particularly in Montréal, the country’s metropolis at the turn of the 20th century—the Black Watch Armoury remains the headquarters for regimental organizations and an important venue for community activities.

Manège militaire du Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada
