Beauvais House

The Beauvais House, a cited historic monument, is a French-inspired rural dwelling built between 1690 and 1720. The stone building, of modest dimensions, has a rectangular plan. It is one and a half storeys high and is covered by a gable roof with straight slopes. The house consists of a main block and a one-storey annex added later. The Beauvais House is located in a fairly urbanized setting, within the city of Saint-Lambert.

The heritage value of the Beauvais House lies in its age and rarity. Built between 1690 and 1720, it is one of the oldest buildings in the city of Saint-Lambert. It is also among the rare domestic dwellings dating from the French Regime preserved in this area.

The heritage value of the Beauvais House also lies in its architectural interest. This house is representative of French-inspired rural dwellings. Its main block set close to the ground, its stone masonry without roughcast, and its small-paned casement windows without casings are typical of French Regime architecture, as are its staggered stone chimney stacks on the roof. The exterior envelope of the residence also displays a good state of integrity. The Beauvais House is thus a representative example of French-inspired rural dwellings.

Maison Beauvais
