Ashcroft Manor

In 1862 C.F. and H.P. Cornwall settled here and developed Ashcroft Manor. The ranch with its grist and saw mills supplied Cariboo miners. The manor house was destroyed by fire in 1943, but the road house survives. Clement Cornwall became one of British Columbia’s first senators after confederation with Canada in 1871, and Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia in 1881.

Ashcroft Manor

En 1862, C.F. et H.P. Cornwall se sont établis ici et ont développé Ashcroft Manor. Le ranch, avec ses moulins à farine et à scie, approvisionnait les mineurs du Cariboo. Le manoir a été détruit par un incendie en 1943, mais le relais routier subsiste. Clement Cornwall est devenu l’un des premiers sénateurs de la Colombie-Britannique après la Confédération avec le Canada en 1871, puis lieutenant-gouverneur de la Colombie-Britannique en 1881.
