Almighty Voice
Accused of killing cattle, Almighty Voice was arrested and imprisoned in this building on October 22, 1895. That night he escaped and a week later shot and killed Sergeant G. C. Colebrook, N.W.M.P., who pursued him. On May 28, 1897, police and civilian volunteers surrounded him and two companions in the Minichinas Hills, seventeen miles from here. Corporal G.H.S. Hockin, Constable J. R. Kerr, and George Grundy, postmaster of Duck Lake, were killed and three men wounded in the ensuing skirmish, which after two days ended with the death of the three Indians, whose entrenched position was shelled by field guns brought from Prince Albert and Regina.
Almighty Voice
