Québec City Hall

Built in 1895-1896 on the site of the old Jesuit College, this grand building fully accommodated offices needed to administer the city’s extensive municipal services for many years. A prominent local architectural firm, Tanguay and Vallée was responsible for the design which features an attractive blend of decorative elements often found in Victorian architecture. In 1929 a handsome addition was erected with plans drawn by architect Raoul Chenevert. By virtue of its monumental and elegant exterior and richly decorated interior, this building is one of Canada’s most stately city halls.
