The Covered Bridges of New Brunswick – Sawmill Creek Bridge

The covered bridges of New Brunswick are monuments to the remarkable engineering and construction abilities of the province’s early settlers. These wooden truss bridge designs were imported to the region from the United States. They could be constructed quickly, safely, and economically using local materials and labour to span the numerous streams and rivers that hindered trade and development. At the turn of the 20th century, there were over one thousand covered bridges throughout New Brunswick.
