Private John Hyndman Plaque
This plaque is dedicated to the memory of Private John Hyndman, born in June 1897. He was raised in Fitzroy Harbour and enrolled in Ottawa in August 1915. He died in January 1917 and is buried at Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery, Souchez, and north of Arras.
This plaque was originally located at the Loyal Orange #222 Billings Bridge; at the time, the village of Billings Bridge was a small community near the present day Billings Bridge in Ottawa. With the closure of the Lodge, the plaque eventually came into the hands of Gloucester Township Historical Society.

Cette plaque est dédiée au soldat John Hyndman. Né en juin 1897, John Hyndman grandit à Fitzroy Harbour et s’engage à Ottawa en août 1915. Tué en janvier 1917, il est enterré au Cimetière britannique de Cabaret-Rouge, à Souchez, au nord d’Arras.
La plaque se trouvait à l’origine au local de la loge Loyal Orange 222, à Billings Bridge; à l’époque, le village de Billings Bridge était une petite localité située près de l’actuel pont Billings, à Ottawa. À la fermeture de la loge, la plaque s’est retrouvée aux mains de la Gloucester Township Historical Society.
