Mutchmor Public School
Mutchmor Public School was erected by the city of Ottawa Public School Board. The school was unveiled on December 23, 1895 and is dedicated to John Mutchmor, Veteran of the War of 1812.
Mutchmor Public School opened under the name Mutchmor Street Public School taking its name from the adjacent Mutchmor Street. The street itself, and by association the school, were named for John Mutchmor, an Upper Canada homesteader. A number of years after the school opening, the street was renamed 5th Avenue, however the school retained its original name, eventually changing it slightly to Mutchmor Public School.
John Mutchmor is also honoured on Mutchmor Road in Ottawa (off of Main Street starting at the Cuban embassy and extending to McGillivray Street). It is unknown when Mutchmor Road was named and whether it was named as a replacement for the loss of Mutchmor Street.

École publique Mutchmor
La Mutchmor Public School (École publique Mutchmor) fut construite par le Conseil des écoles publiques de la Ville d’Ottawa et inaugurée le 23 décembre 1895 à la mémoire de John Mutchmor, vétéran de la guerre de 1812.
À son ouverture, elle s’appelait Mutchmor Street Public School, du nom de la rue adjacente. La rue elle-même et, par association, l’école furent nommées en l’honneur de John Mutchmor, un « homesteader » du Haut-Canada. Quelques années après l’ouverture de l’école, la rue fut rebaptisée 5th Avenue, mais l’école décida de conserver son nom initial, pour ensuite adopter simplement Mutchmor Public School.
John Mutchmor prête aussi son nom au chemin Mutchmor, à Ottawa (qui part de la rue Main et va de l’ambassade de Cuba jusqu’à la rue McGillivray). On ne sait pas quand le chemin Mutchmor a été ainsi nommé ni si cela a été fait pour remplacer la perte de la rue Mutchmor.
