Port Credit Cenotaph

This memorial, when it was first erected in 1925, listed the names of the brave Port Credit men who lost their lives during the First World War. In 1946 and 1983, the names of the men who fell during the Second World War and the Korean Conflict were added. The memorial is located beside Memorial Park on Stavebank Road North and has been a revered landmark since its building in 1925. It was designed and constructed by Louis Temporale (recipient of the Order of Canada for master craftsmanship in stone masonry).

Ce mémorial, lors de son érection en 1925, portait les noms des vaillants citoyens de Port Credit qui avaient perdu la vie pendant la Première Guerre mondiale. En 1946 et 1983, les noms de ceux qui sont tombés pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale et la guerre de Corée ont été ajoutés. Le mémorial est situé à côté du parc Memorial, sur le chemin Stavebank Nord, et forme un point de repère respecté depuis son érection en 1925. Il a été conçu et réalisé par Louis Temporale (récipiendaire de l’Ordre du Canada pour ses qualités exceptionnelles d’artisan maçon).
