Abernethy War Memorial Hall
The Memorial Hall was constructed by Lewis Behrns and Company, a local brick and stone mason firm, in 1921. It is dedicated to the memory of the local veterans of the First World War. In March of 1919 the Abernethy District League decided to form a company to be called Abernethy and District Memorial Hall Company for the purpose of selling shares to build a hall in Abernethy. W.R. Motherwell and James Dick pushed the project and organized the building. The gravel hauling was donated by Les Coulthard. Mr. H.H. Turner, secretary and timekeeper of the construction, urged the completion of the project. The Abernethy League eventually became the Great War Veteran’s Association in 1920. The hall contains two rooms and an auditorium suitable for banquets, meetings, etc. The building is maintained by the local village council.
Stanley Edgar Storey of Storey and Vab Edmond designed the Abernathy War Memorial Hall in 1921.

Ce mémorial a été construit en 1921 par Lewis Behrns and Company, une entreprise de maçonnerie locale. Il est dédié à la mémoire des anciens combattants de la région qui ont servi durant la Première Guerre mondiale. En mars 1919, l’Abernathy District League a décidé de fonder une entreprise, qui devait porter le nom d’Abernethy and District Memorial Hall Company et qui avait pour mission de vendre des parts en vue de la construction d’un édifice commémoratif à Abernethy. W.R. Motherwell et James Dick ont orchestré le projet et organisé la construction de l’édifice. Les Coulthard a fait don de voyages de gravier. M. H.H. Turner, secrétaire de la compagnie, était chargé de faire respecter l’échéancier de construction et a donc insisté pour que le projet soit mené à terme. L’Abernethy League s’est fusionnée à la Great War Veterans Association en 1920. L’édifice comprend deux pièces et un auditorium pouvant servir à divers usages : banquets, assemblées, etc. C’est le conseil du village qui en assure l’entretien.
