Renfrew Great War Memorial Cenotaph

The Great War Memorial cenotaph was erected “To all our honoured dead.” The grey granite monolith memorial was a gift from the Honorable Thomas Andrew Low, a local businessman who was thrice elected to Parliament and was appointed to the cabinet in 1921 and in 1923 was made Minister of Trade and Commerce. In 1918 he landscaped the town park which was then named Low Square. In it he built the Cenotaph bearing the names of Renfrew and District war dead. The names of WWII war dead have been added to the original memorial.

Richard Hubert Millson & Cecil Burgess designed the Great War Memorial Cenotaph.
