Sunderland Cenotaph

Following the end of the Great War, the Township of Brock sought to erect a memorial to local citizens who had died in the conflict. Ontario war memorials based on the same template were constructed in Kemptville, Cape Crocker and Wiarton. The memorial features a lone young soldier standing tall, grasping his rifle vertically in front of him. Since that time, the soldier’s memorial has come to symbolize all from Sunderland killed in war service.
