Town of Port Colborne Cenotaph

This memorial, which bears a metal sculptured sword driven into the slab base, was erected by the City of Port Colborne in memory of the local war dead and veterans of the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War. In 1952, a parade of Canadian Corps Unit 43 and the Canadian Legion Branch 56, preceded dedication ceremonies at the Cenotaph, where Major G. Smith Macdonald unveiled the new bronze plaque bearing the names of the fallen of both World Wars, replacing the old plaque which bore only the names from the First World War. The plaque is 90″ high and 26″ wide. The granite monument is 15′ high.

Smith Macdonald a dévoilé la nouvelle plaque de bronze portant les noms des morts des deux guerres mondiales, en remplacement de l’ancienne plaque qui ne portait que les noms des victimes de la Première Guerre mondiale.
