Harvey Reginald MacMillan

Pioneer conservationist, industrialist and philanthropist, MacMillan was educated at Yale as one of Canada’s first professional foresters. He became British Columbia’s Chief Forester in 1912 and in 1919 formed his own company to market lumber abroad, participating in a tremendous expansion of the industry. When his company merged with Bloedel, Stewart and Welch in 1951, it became one of Canada’s largest forest enterprises. His efforts in organizing forest production in both world wars were recognized when he was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire.

Harvey Reginald MacMillan
