Wright Building
The Wright Building, a two-storey brick business block erected in the late 1890s, is the modified north section of a larger mixed-used commercial structure on Carberry’s Main Street. The municipal designation applies to the building and its deep lot.
The Wright Building, an unassuming two-part block that has served assorted business and residential needs in Carberry for more than a century, also is significant because of its contribution to the integrity of a densely developed streetscape in the town’s designated heritage district. The building is physically integrated with the structure on its south side through a shared party wall and second-floor entrance, staircase and hallway. It also supports the continuous built edge of the streetscape and is compatible in scale, materials and use with its neighbours in Historic Downtown Carberry.
Édifice Wright
L’édifice Wright, un immeuble commercial de deux niveaux construit vers la fin des années 1890, est la partie nord modifiée d’un pâté d’immeubles commerciaux à vocation mixte sur la rue Main de Carberry. La désignation municipale s’applique à l’édifice et à sa profonde parcelle.
L’édifice Wright, un bloc sans prétention de deux parties qui a comblé des besoins commerciaux et résidentiels à Carberry pendant plus d’un siècle, est important notamment en raison de sa contribution à l’intégrité d’un paysage de rue densément développé dans ce quartier qualifié de site municipal du patrimoine. L’édifice est physiquement intégré au bâtiment qui le touche du côté sud par le biais d’un mur mitoyen et par l’entrée, l’escalier et le couloir de l’étage supérieur. Il contribue à la continuité du bord construit du paysage de rue et il est compatible sur le plan de l’échelle, des matériaux et de l’usage avec ses voisins dans le centre-ville historique de Carberry.
