Holy Cross Greek Catholic Church is a well-preserved example of the kind of early religious structures pioneer communities erected in Manitoba upon their arrival in the opening decades of the twentieth century. It was the first church of the parish, built in the centre of a Ukrainian settlement under direction of local craftsmen Ivan Harasymchuk and Semen Masyk. Its distinct domed tower rises above the fields that spread out around it, bringing a conspicuous air to an otherwise simply appointed structure on the prairie horizon. Originally known as the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the building, together with the adjacent Polson Community Hall and Polson Cemetery, once formed the nucleus of the area. Restored in recent years, the church continues to host annual services and special gatherings.

L’église catholique grecque Holy Cross est un exemple bien conservé des premières constructions religieuses que les communautés de colons érigèrent au Manitoba à leur arrivée dans les premières décennies du XXe siècle. Première église de la paroisse, elle fut érigée au centre d’un établissement ukrainien sous la direction des artisans locaux Ivan Harasymchuk et Semen Masyk. Son remarquable clocher en dôme se dresse au-dessus des champs qui couvrent les environs et fait ressortir cet édifice par ailleurs discret sur l’horizon des prairies. Connu à l’origine comme l’église de l’exaltation de la Sainte-Croix, le bâtiment, avec la salle communautaire Polson et le cimetière Polson adjacents, forma à une époque le coeur de la région. Restaurée ces dernières années, l’église continue d’accueillir des cérémonies annuelles et des événements spéciaux.
