Harding House
The Harding House is a two storey, steep gable double front peak house located in Greenspond, Bonavista Bay. The designation is confined to the footprint of the building.
The Harding House was designated as a Registered Heritage Structure because of its architectural and cultural value.
Architecturally, the Harding House features an exceptionally well preserved exterior, and is regionally representative of the Queen Anne style of architecture. It is an outstanding example of the style for the community and that section of Newfoundland’s coast. The house is of wood timber construction and features a steep gable roof with double bay windows. It retains its original wood shingles on the peaks above the bay windows and some decorative bracket work on the front facade. The 2/2 windows are also original to the structure.
This house has significant cultural value for Greenspond because it is one of the only remaining houses left in the community that speaks of their history as being a prominent distribution centre for the northeast coast. Sitting in the center of town, the Harding House is well known in the community and an attraction for all who visit the area.

La maison Harding est une maison de deux étages à pignon aigu et à double pignon avant, située à Greenspond, dans la baie Bonavista. La désignation se limite à l’empreinte du bâtiment.
La maison Harding a été désignée structure patrimoniale enregistrée en raison de sa valeur architecturale et culturelle.
Sur le plan architectural, la maison Harding présente un extérieur exceptionnellement bien conservé et est représentative, à l’échelle régionale, du style architectural Queen Anne. Elle constitue un exemple remarquable de ce style pour la communauté et pour cette partie de la côte de Terre-Neuve. La maison est de construction en bois d’œuvre et présente un toit à pignon aigu et deux fenêtres en saillie. Elle conserve ses bardeaux de bois d’origine dans les pignons au-dessus des fenêtres en saillie ainsi que certaines consoles décoratives sur la façade avant. Les fenêtres 2/2 sont également d’origine.
Cette maison revêt une valeur culturelle importante pour Greenspond, car elle est l’une des seules maisons subsistant dans la communauté qui témoignent de son passé de centre de distribution important pour la côte nord-est. Située au centre de la ville, la maison Harding est bien connue dans la communauté et constitue une attraction pour tous ceux qui visitent la région.
